LAFAYETTE BEN CHARLATAN has been called the spawn of Leon Russell, Leon Redbone and Tom Waits. He is a singing piano tickler who milks 20th century American musical styles from ragtime to vaudeville to show tunes to jazz to rhythym and blues, delivering his own unique melange with a showman’s greasy, gritty passion. His band “THE CHARLATONES” back him up, evoking a smoky jazz den, vibrating with echos of The Hot Five.
